ELASTICATION

For the uninitiated we should explain that this category of products is all about elasticating a fishing pole – threading a length of elastic through the top one, two or three sections of the pole. The float rig can then be attached to the elastic, acting as a buffer to stop the rig line from breaking when a fish is hooked, helping to tire the fish when you’re fighting it.

Pole elastic gives anglers flexibility, but you need to be able to pick the right strength and thickness of elastic, graded by number, and decide on whether to use solid or hollow elastics. The size of elastic you use depends on the season and the type of fish you’re targeting.
